Prom 2012 - closer than you think!!!

Yesterday I received my first e mail blast from David's Bridal about prom dresses for 2012, yes 2012. Then I looked at my calendar and realized it is not as far away as it sounds. It really is sneaking up on us pretty quickly.

When it comes to prom, I speak and write more about this topic than anything else - Make a Plan, Make a Goal. I really can't stress this enough. NOW, is the time to start working on your plan and your goal for the 2012 prom season.

There are 2 key foundations for this process and you should do them both. First, make your dream list. What are all the things you would like to do and to accomplish for this next prom season. Get your staff and your team together and spend some time dreaming. Write everything down, no matter how far out there the idea is. You can come back later and adjust, but don't be afraid to dream in the biggest way possible.

The second thing to do is to look at what you did last year. Let me challenge you to ask yourself this one question and only this one question. "What did we do right?" This is a much harder question than you realize. It will be difficult for your to focus on this because you will want to drift to things you did wrong, but you will get strongest if you can focus on the question "What did we do right?"

Now put the two lists together. What are you dreams and What did you do right? Now blend them together, set your goal for this next season and then create a plan that will help you and your team to reach that goal.

The old saying "Think outside of the box" has been used so much that many times it gets over looked. But take the time to "think outside of the box" or outside of your comfort zone. What can you do that will be unique, eventful, challenging and creative?

So to wrap up for today - SET A GOAL and CREATE A PLAN for 2012. This will have a major impact on the success of your prom season and I am wishing all of you the best prom season ever.

Until next time........
